German company SkyWind has, for the first time in the world, received international certification for its NG home wind turbine — a compact unit with a diameter of just 1.5 meters. It is the first microturbine officially recognized as reliable and safe under all international standards.
The SkyWind NG is designed for private homes, small businesses, and farm buildings. Over the course of a year, it generates about 615 kWh of green electricity — roughly 6% of the average annual consumption of a typical family. The model features a built-in microcomputer, an intelligent control system, and automatic shutdown in a storm. The device works in cloudy, windy weather — exactly when solar panels are less effective.
At first glance, 6% may seem small. However, that is a year’s worth of lighting, a refrigerator running, or a laptop and smartphone charging — in other words, a home’s basic needs. And all from a single microturbine. Combined with a home solar power system and other devices, it can bring a household much closer to energy independence. And power outages become less of a worry: the lights stay on, the phone keeps charging, and the freezer remains cold.
