In New York, the first compact setup in the world that can produce gasoline without oil has been presented. The device, the size of a refrigerator, was developed by the startup Aircela and combines capturing carbon dioxide with fuel synthesis.

The unit needs only air, water, and green energy. First, it captures carbon dioxide from the air and obtains hydrogen from water using electrolysis. Then, through a chemical reaction between CO₂ and H₂, it synthesizes hydrocarbons, producing clean gasoline.

The output is clean, sulfur-free gasoline without heavy metals, suitable for refueling a conventional car. The technology is designed for broad use: it can be installed at home, in an office, or at a small gas station. The installation is fully operational and ready for production, with mass manufacturing planned for fall 2025.

The switch does not require changing vehicles, which matters for people who are not ready for electric cars yet for economic or infrastructure reasons. Usually, such technologies are associated with huge plants and complex infrastructure. Here, however, it is a mini installation that can be placed in a garage or in the backyard. Such miniaturization of technologies makes green solutions practically accessible to everyone.
