Lenovo and Infinix have unveiled concept devices that use light energy for charging. Lenovo announced the Yoga Solar PC, a laptop with an integrated solar panel. It can charge from any light source, but performs best in sunlight. The laptop’s solar cell converts more than 24% of the energy into electricity. Just 20 minutes in the sun provides an hour of video playback.
Infinix, for its part, introduced SolarEnergy-Reserving technology, which allows smartphones to charge from sunlight and artificial light. Energy is transferred through a special case with contact points, providing continuous charging without the need to connect any wires. The company also demonstrated “Sunflower,” an AI-powered wireless charging system. It works within a range of three metres, automatically locating a device and transmitting energy to it.
Bringing solar technologies into gadgets is a significant step toward creating more autonomous and environmentally friendly devices.
