Indian company Euphotic Labs has introduced Nosh One, a compact AI-powered cooking robot that can prepare food with almost no human involvement. After seven years of development and more than 1,500 dishes cooked during user testing, the project has launched on Kickstarter.
What makes Nosh One stand out is that it aims to take over the cooking process itself, rather than separate steps. The device’s database already includes more than 500 dishes from 11 world cuisines. A built-in AI camera monitors color, texture and moisture levels, effectively watching the food the way a person standing at the stove would. Thanks to this, the system can tell when to turn down the heat, add spices and stir the contents. The device is equipped with six motors, ceramic heating, spice containers accurate to a quarter teaspoon, as well as compartments for water, oil and basic ingredients.
Control is handled through a mobile app: users can start cooking remotely, schedule meals and receive personalized recommendations. It also has a well-thought-out cleaning system, from daily maintenance to automatic self-cleaning of internal channels.
The device is not all-powerful yet. It cannot handle dishes that require flipping ingredients, such as pancakes or whole fish, and with delayed start it is important to account for storage conditions of the ingredients. However, unlike most kitchen appliances, Nosh One is closer not to smart home tech, but to a full digital chef: it does not require step-by-step human participation and can carry a dish through to completion independently.
