In Russia, 5G has been officially launched in 16 cities at once. Nearly 10 million people have gained access to the new-generation network, which is expected to provide higher speeds and greater mobile internet capacity.

In Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg, all four operators — Beeline, MegaFon, MTS and T2 — have already enabled 5G. In other cities, coverage still depends on the operator. Access to the network is expected to be opened soon for all compatible Android smartphones, while on iPhone it depends on Apple’s decision.

By the end of 2026, 5G is planned to be rolled out in another 50 cities. In the initial phase, the technology will also use LTE frequencies, which is expected to increase network capacity by 20–25%.
