After the fall of Bashar al-Assad, more than 1.2 million people have returned to Syria— the first time in many years since the civil war began. According to the UN, most refugees arrived from Lebanon, Turkey, and Iraq. It is expected that by the end of 2025, another 3.5 million Syrians will return home.
In the country, important positive changes have begun: schools, hospitals, and infrastructure are being restored, and access to education and healthcare is improving. Support for small business and agriculture is actively underway, and citizens are increasingly taking part in public initiatives.
Despite all the challenges, this large-scale return already symbolizes hope for recovery and a new chapter in the country’s history.
