At the Lomonosov innovation cluster at Moscow State University, Russia's first off-store refrigerated pickup locker has opened — a special machine for contactless pickup of online orders containing perishable food. The new system combines chilled storage with convenient access: an order is placed through an app, and the products wait for the owner in an individual compartment for up to four hours.

Thanks to the refrigerated locker, more than two thousand employees of the Vorobyovy Gory center can already collect purchases without queues or contact with couriers, at a convenient time. The device also supports standard parcel-locker functions, making it possible to pick up both fresh food and other online marketplace orders in one place.

Such "cold compartments" first appeared in the United States in 2017 and have gradually grown in popularity among people who value contactless pickup and flexible collection options. The project at the Lomonosov cluster is supported by the Moscow government and is intended to make the city's e-commerce infrastructure even more modern and convenient.
