Company Unitree Robotics from Hangzhou has introduced the world’s first application platform for humanoid robots — a kind of App Store, but for artificial intelligence in a metal body.
The new Unitree Robotics Developer Platform allows users to control robot functions from a smartphone, train them in new actions — from dancing to martial arts — and share these “skills” with other users. The system supports not only applications, but also training datasets, as well as remote-control functions.
Robots can now quickly “learn” new abilities — as if they were installing updates, like phones. This makes the technology more accessible: the community can jointly develop, edit, and distribute algorithms. The next step is to integrate voice control and household functions such as bringing water or clearing a table.
Unitree is taking a step toward everyday use, when setting up a robot will be as easy as setting up a smartphone.
