Chinese company AheadForm has unveiled a robot head capable of reproducing human facial expressions with high precision. In the released video, the robot can be seen blinking, looking around and expressing emotions as if it were a real person. The realism is powered by 25 miniature motors and “living” silicone skin with a matte texture that can respond to stretching and micro-pressure.

The company says the goal is to make interaction with technology more natural and trustworthy. The facial expressions are not driven by mechanics alone, but by intelligent analysis and modeling: the robot anticipates the emotional response of its conversational partner and instantly answers with a corresponding facial expression.

Origin M1 has become the most realistic robot face to date. The control algorithms were trained on human facial expressions, so its expressions are generated dynamically rather than from pre-recorded templates. In terms of plasticity and expressiveness, M1 significantly outperforms well-known humanoids such as Ameca (UK), Sophia (Hong Kong) and Geminoid (Japan), coming closer than ever to a truly “alive” face.
