Definium Therapeutics is developing DT120, an LSD-based drug for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder, a condition marked by constant and hard-to-control worry. In the third phase III study, the reduction in symptoms lasted through week 12.
This is an effort to turn a psychedelic into a standardized medicine: after taking 100 micrograms of the drug, patients underwent a controlled 8-hour session with a specialist, and then the treatment was not repeated. On the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale, the score fell by 9.8 points versus 4.7 with placebo.
Previously, DT120 also showed positive phase III results in depression.
