Chinese company BYD has announced a fast-charging system that can charge electric vehicles in just 5 minutes. The new technology, called “Super e-platform,” can provide a charge for 400 km of driving range.
Initially, new 1-megawatt charging stations will be installed in China. A total of 4,000 charging points are planned across the country. The charging speed claimed by BYD is four times that of Tesla’s Supercharger.
In addition, BYD plans to equip its car models with autonomous driving systems. The new batteries are expected to reach the market this year, which would be a significant step forward for the electric vehicle industry.
