Pirelli has presented the world’s first mass-produced tires made from more than 70% renewable and recycled materials. The new P Zero tires are intended for Jaguar Land Rover vehicles and have already received international FSC certification, confirming responsible sourcing of natural rubber.

The formulation includes materials such as recycled scrap metal, secondary technical carbon, and silicon sourced from rice husks, as well as plasticizers made not from petroleum products but from plant-based oils. The reliability of the tire construction is supported by certification from Bureau Veritas. Initially, the tires will be fitted on Range Rover vehicles, and then they will be released for sale to the public.

This is not the first time Pirelli has pursued sustainable technologies. Back in 2021, the company launched its first tires using natural rubber, but the new version is described as a breakthrough in scale and the level of detail in the material composition. The key benefit here is a real reduction in dependence on non-renewable resources and a measurable decrease in its carbon footprint, without compromising on quality and safety.
