Opera has introduced Opera Neon, an innovative “agentic browser” that doesn’t simply display websites, but does what it’s asked to do. With three AI modules—Chat (requests and context), Do (local task automation), and Make (creating context, code, websites, and games)—Neon can act as an active assistant.

A key feature of Opera Neon is balancing local privacy with calculations in the cloud. Do runs on your device and does not send data over the network, while Make continues creating content even when disconnected from the internet. This takes browsers toward agentic interaction: when the tool not only follows commands, but also makes decisions based on the user’s intent.

Opera is rethinking the browser—from a passive tool to an active digital assistant. This is a step toward the agentic web era, where a browser is not only a window to the network, but an executor of tasks. For now, Neon is available via a premium subscription and is currently open only to a limited number of users through preregistration.
