Company LAVA has unveiled a new product with the playful name Lollipop Star. It is a lollipop that can play music. Not through speakers, not through headphones, but directly into your head. It sounds strange, but it works.
The trick is bone-conduction technology. A tiny vibration module is built into the plastic stick. Bite down on the lollipop with your molars, and the music is transmitted through the bones of your jaw to your ear. At some point the music appears so suddenly that you want to ask: is this definitely a lollipop, or voices in your head?
There is also a bonus for music fans. Each flavor is an exclusive track that cannot be found on Spotify or on torrents. Peach flavor comes with a track by Ice Spice, blueberry with Akon, and lime with Armani White. Want to hear it? You’ll have to taste it. Literally.
The wonder gadget costs $8.99. In other words, a technological toy that actually works costs less than a couple of lattes. A consumable device that delivers exclusive sensations — why not? It was created simply for the joy of it. For sound, taste, surprise, and perhaps a little technological magic.
