Three leading universities — Surrey, Yale, and Cambridge — presented new technologies for capturing and processing carbon dioxide into fuel.

At Surrey, researchers created a material that both captures CO₂ and turns it into synthetic fuel. Yale developed a two-stage catalyst to convert CO₂ into methanol, making the process easier to scale. Cambridge presented an autonomous solar reactor that works without external power: it captures CO₂ at night, and during the day it converts it into syngas using sunlight. The installation is suitable for regions that do not have access to power grids.

With the ongoing threat of global warming, the new technology could play an important role in achieving CO₂ reduction goals and cutting dependence on fossil fuels.
