Google is rolling out a feature to protect Android users from bank fraudsters who use screen sharing during phone scams. The technology automatically detects situations where a call from an unknown number comes in, a banking app opens, and screen sharing is turned on: if all three conditions coincide, the smartphone quickly shows a clear warning and lets you end the call or report the number.
Unlike the previously presented Scam Detection, the system does not eavesdrop or analyze the content of the call. This substantially reduces the threat of fraud without invading personal privacy and makes using financial services on Android safer.
The feature will appear through an update to Google Play Services, so it will not depend on the device model. It complements the already implemented capabilities of Android 15 for hiding confidential information during screen sharing. In this way, Google sets a high bar for responsibility and care for digital security. This is not just a battle against the consequences of fraud, but its proactive prevention.
