Google became the first company to launch voice translation in headphones of any brand. The new feature in the Google Translate app makes it possible to understand speech in real time in more than 70 languages without having to use Pixel Buds from the company — any Bluetooth headphones and an Android smartphone are enough. It is currently available in the US, Mexico and India, and will appear on iOS in 2026.
Previously, similar solutions worked only with devices from the same manufacturer. Google has made the feature universal. In addition, Google Translate now has improved text translation powered by Gemini AI, and the Practice language mode has been expanded to 20 countries.
The ability to understand speech in real time with any headphones, without extra cost or complicated setup, is not just a convenience, but a step toward genuine communication without borders.
