IKEA has introduced a new BÄSINGEN line—six low-cost items for the bathroom and kitchen designed with the needs of different users in mind, including people with limited mobility. The series includes a shower chair, shelves, holders, and stools with handrails, all in a universal minimalist design.
A key feature of the collection is its attention to details: stable legs, comfortable grips, and drainage holes make use safer and more comfortable. At the same time, the products do not look like specialized equipment—they fit naturally into an interior.
According to designer Sarah Fager, the goal of BÄSINGEN is to bring together aesthetics and functionality without dividing users into “ordinary” and “special.” IKEA offers a modern, accessible, and inclusive approach to everyday home goods. This is an example of how mass-market design can account for the needs of different people without drawing attention to it.
