In Saudi Arabia, the first clinic in the world where patients are consulted by artificial intelligence has begun operating. The system—an AI “digital doctor” named Dr. Hua—was created by the Chinese startup Synyi AI together with Almoosa Health Group and has already started work in the Al-Ahsa province.
Patients describe their symptoms through a tablet. Using follow-up questions and data analysis, Dr. Hua proposes treatment. However, the final decision is always checked and approved by a physician, which is presented as important for safety and clinical accountability.
Dr. Hua currently handles issues related to respiratory diseases, but the scope is expected to expand soon to include gastroenterology and dermatology. During testing, Dr. Hua demonstrated high accuracy, with only 0.3% errors.
The concept is built on localized language models. A built-in multi-layer control system is designed to reduce the risk of AI mistakes. Analysis is carried out taking into account regional specifics and medical standards.
The creators believe this model will make high-quality diagnosis more accessible in regions, increase appointment speed, and reduce the workload on specialists.
