In Berlin and Hamburg, pilot projects have been launched aimed at improving women’s safety at night. The service offers special conditions for late-night rides: an easier way to request a taxi, safe routes away from dark streets, and support from the police and city authorities. The initiative is being implemented together with taxi fleets, allowing quick responses to incidents and increasing trust in city services.

How in demand such a measure is can be seen in Cologne: there, 58% of women said they avoid night transport and some areas of the city. This highlights the need for solutions like these, which have received support in a number of German cities and are drawing interest from other EU countries.

Such programs operate in 10 cities in the country and help not only minimize risks, but also make urban life more attractive and comfortable. If the project confirms its effectiveness, it could become a new standard for city safety.
