Costa Rica and Mexico have, for the first time, entered the world’s top 10 happiest countries in the 2025 World Happiness Report. Costa Rica placed 6th, while Mexico ranked 10th. The Nordic countries continue to lead the ranking, with Finland heading the list for the eighth year in a row.

Costa Rica’s success is linked to the “Pura Vida” philosophy (“Pure Life”). Since 1948, the country has had no army, which allowed resources to be directed toward education, healthcare, and sustainable development.

Mexico has achieved notable results in the fight against poverty, in developing social infrastructure, and in expanding access to medical and educational services.

Lithuania took 16th place, becoming the happiest country among the former Soviet republics. All of this once again confirms that the level of happiness is not only about GDP figures, but primarily about how society looks after people.
