In the UK, a movement is rapidly gaining popularity that is changing how children’s parties are imagined. The No Crap Parties project, founded by Charlotte Mason-Kerr, encourages families to отказаться from single-use plastic, thoughtless gifts and endless stress — in favour of simplicity, warmth and environmental responsibility.
Parents are invited to sign a “party pact” — an agreement not to give unwanted items, but instead to offer an experience or a handmade toy, to avoid plastic wrapping and to make the celebration stress-free.
Many families have welcomed the idea with relief. A survey found that 43% of parents consider gift preparation financially burdensome, while 40% feel anxious about it. Children, meanwhile, are happy: they go on treasure hunts in the park, read books or simply play together.
No Crap Parties helps to rethink the very meaning of a celebration. It becomes not a display of gifts, but a time for connection and creativity. And that means that what is left behind are not bags of rubbish, but warm memories.
