AI systems, including ChatGPT-4 and Gemini 1.5 Flash, have for the first time demonstrated emotional intelligence superior to that of humans. A major study by Swiss researchers from Geneva and Bern showed that artificial intelligence successfully handled emotionally complex situations — its average score was 82%, compared with just 56% for humans.

The tests used realistic scenarios designed to assess understanding of feelings and the ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts. What was especially impressive was that ChatGPT-4 not only completed the tests, but also created emotionally accurate cases itself — at the level of professional psychologists.

Although artificial intelligence does not experience emotions itself, its ability to interpret feelings accurately makes it a valuable assistant in human tasks — from developing emotional skills to improving communication in education, human resources, and psychological support.
