From fall 2025, residents of 34 U.S. states will be able to get a flu vaccination without leaving home. AstraZeneca has introduced FluMist Home, the world’s first nasal flu vaccine for self-administration. The product comes as a spray, and now all it takes is filling out an online questionnaire, getting a prescription, and waiting for delivery.

Although FluMist itself has been known for more than 20 years, home use of the vaccine only began in September this year. The vaccine contains live but weakened viruses and provides immune protection of 30% to 60%. Even such partial protection can help prevent severe cases of the illness and complications. The more people are vaccinated, the stronger herd immunity becomes — an especially important factor during seasonal outbreaks. The vaccine is suitable for adults up to 50 years old and children older than two, but is not recommended for people with weakened immune systems.

If protection from disease was once associated with needles and a clinical setting, more and more solutions are now being adapted to the pace of modern life: quickly, conveniently, and without stress.
